Terminology reference

Key Terms Used in the Platform

The following terms appear throughout the Lulgaferno interface and in the service documentation. Understanding how these terms are used within the system can help new users engage with the platform more effectively from the outset.

Record
A discrete unit of structured information held within the system. Records are the primary objects that the platform classifies, indexes, and presents for review. A record may be derived from a document, a data entry, or another structured source.
Taxonomy
The hierarchical category structure used to classify records within the platform. The taxonomy reflects the range of record types and service contexts relevant to the system and is applied consistently across all records at the intake stage.
Classification
The process of assigning a record to one or more categories within the taxonomy. Classification is performed based on structural and contextual signals at the time the record enters the system. It can be reviewed and adjusted by the support team on request.
Indexing
The process of creating searchable references for each record and establishing cross-references to related records that share defined attributes. Indexing underpins the navigation and retrieval capabilities of the review interface.
Review interface
The user-facing section of the platform where classified and indexed records are presented for inspection. The review interface provides sorting, filtering, and navigation tools and is the primary environment for interacting with organised information.
Annotation
A user-created note attached to a specific record during a review session. Annotations are private to the user who created them and persist across sessions. They are not visible to other users or to the support team unless shared deliberately by the user.
Cross-reference
A navigable link between two or more records that share relevant attributes, such as date range, record type, or contextual tag. Cross-references allow users to move between related records without returning to the top-level view.
Enquiry
A request or question submitted to the Lulgaferno support team through the contact form. Enquiries may relate to platform access, record clarification, technical questions about the interface, or other service matters.
Access arrangement
The configuration established by the support team that defines the record sets and interface views available to a specific user. Access arrangements are set up following the assessment of an access request and can be adjusted through further enquiry.
Support pathway
The internal routing applied to a submitted enquiry based on the request type selected in the form. Different request types are directed to different members of the support team to ensure the most relevant person responds.
Interface guidance

The following guidance is intended for users who have received access to the Lulgaferno review interface and are approaching it for the first time. It outlines the main areas of the interface and the conventions used to present information.

The interface is divided into a navigation panel and a main record view. The navigation panel allows users to move between category views and saved filter configurations. The main record view displays records assigned to the currently selected category in the order determined by the most recently applied sort setting.

Records are displayed with their classification tag, their date of entry into the system, and a summary of their key structural attributes. Selecting a record opens the full detail view, which displays the record's content alongside any cross-references identified during the indexing process.

From the detail view, users can add annotations, navigate to cross-referenced records, or return to the category view using the breadcrumb at the top of the page. Changes to annotations are saved automatically when the user navigates away from the record.

Filtering and sorting controls are accessible from the main record view. Available filter dimensions include date range, record type, category, and annotation status. Sorting is available by date of entry, record type, and alphabetical order of the record identifier.

Onboarding expectations

What to Expect When You First Access the Platform

Users who are new to the platform often have questions about what they will find when they first log in. The following provides a straightforward account of the initial experience.

When you access the platform for the first time, you will arrive at the review interface with your access arrangement already configured. The record sets relevant to your account will be pre-loaded into the system, classified according to the taxonomy, and available for navigation from the outset. You do not need to import or configure records manually.

The initial view presents the broadest available category — typically all records within your account — sorted by date of entry in descending order. From this view, you can narrow down by category, apply filters, or search by record identifier to locate specific records. As you become familiar with the interface, the navigation panel provides access to more specific category views that may be more relevant to your regular review activities.

Reference material covering the interface features described in this section is available from within the platform and from the Platform Details page.
